Apple finally releasing 3G phone

10 June 2008

3G phone users will have a chance to pick up a lower priced iPhone on July 11 after an announcement by Steve Jobs at the annual Apple WWD Conference in San Francisco. The new 3G iPhone will be priced more competitively due to a high market demand from people unwilling to pay the price of the previous iPhone.

In Australia, Optus and Vodafone will be offering pre-paid options for iPhones that will allow 3G phone users to buy one without having to be locked into a contract. Instead, pre-paid credit will be available to allow some users to have the iPhone experience without as many limitations as there have been in the US.

The 3G iPhone is also purportedly capable of speeds much faster than many existing mobile phones, at speeds almost comparable to Wi-Fi, which is fantastic for a modern 3G phone.
